Polished stone axe head (Lukis series No.28).
This axe head is 8.8cm long and is of
serpentine, it has a curved cutting edge and is oval in section
with a rounded butt. This is the most common form of polished axe head found in
Guernsey.
It was not found inside Le Dehus, but "close by" the passage grave.
A larger serpentine axe head of different
form was discovered by the Lukis family on a ledge in
side chamber A (mid northern chamber), beneath a deposit of human bones.
Unfortunately we
were unable to get a photo of this internal find.
