This is a small circle of basaltic quartz bearing stones. Five of the stones appear firmly seated and may be in their original positions, several other small stones lie quite loosely, and are certainly small enough to have been easily moved. We could not find the 2.1m stone mentioned by Burl as lying to the NW. Backhill was originally the eastern member of a pair of circles, we could find no evidence of the western circle.
