The only survivor of the stone circle that
once surrounded the cairn lies fallen at the SW.
The stone was erect, but leaning outwards until it fell in1982. This is a truly
huge stone, we measured it as 4.6m by 2.6m, Henshall gives its
standing height at 3.6m, so a good metre must have been buried. There are said
to be two cupmarks low down on the outer side, but as these are now
beneath the stone, we could not access them. Similarly, there is said to be rock
art on at least one kerb, but these too, are now buried for much of their height.
