Rennibister Earth house

Beams resting on northern pillar.
The beam embedded in the chamber walling (left) rests directly upon the pillar top and the main lintel beam supporting the roof (right) rests directly
upon this. The northern pillar is the tallest of the four and unlike the others, no eke stones are needed to increase its effective height. This structure
has survived over a thousand years, including the weight of the steam thresher that brought the rest of the roof down.
