Stenness

Stone 10 viewed from the NW.
Although lower than stones 7 and 8, stone 10 is no midget at 4.80m tall. Stones 7 and 8 are visible
right background.  This stone was toppled in 1814 along with its neighbour, stone 11, which was drilled and blasted
apart with gunpowder. Luckily stone 10, despite being drilled for a similar fate, escaped destruction and was re-erected.
