These stones may be the remains of a roughly rectangular structure located near
to the centre of the henge. The structure seems to have
had its long axis aligned with that of the two entranceways, and at each end of
this axis stood a very tall and massive stone. These stones
are thought to have stood around 3m high and would have completely screened the
internal area of the cove from outside observation through
the entrance ways.
