Mnajdra - Temple 1

A high level view along the axis of temple 1 from the SW.
This temple had a floor of Torba  with some stone paving around the entrance. The axial bay in this design
is still termed an apse, this feature atrophies in later phase temples to become a niche.
The stones and walls behind the temple are thought to be the remains of domestic buildings associated
with the temples. There is only one "intact" structure among them, this is a small stone hut that is visible in
the background  to the left of the temple axis. Although constructed of stone, this hut is most likely a much
later construction.
