The porthole doorway in the southern inner apse.
This beautifully worked slab gives access
to a tiny intramural room containing a single
small pedestal altar. Part of the altar top slab and pedestal is visible through
the doorway.
Note the wear and rounded edges on the sill of the porthole doorway, the result
of 5000 years
of human traffic.
