Ballyrenan

The two western tombs from the NE.
The portals and the low side slabs of the middle tomb are visible here.
The western tomb is virtually invisible under its coat of vegetation, but a large slab juts out
horizontally on the far right. This stone was located beneath the rear of the western tomb's
capstone which is in turn, beneath the rear of the middle tomb's capstone. It was hard to
imagine a function for this stone in the original configuration of the tombs, but today, if any substantial pressure is put upon it, both of the capstones are levered upwards and
move alarmingly.
