Time has not been kind to Coulagh, at first glance it looks like a ruined five stone recumbent circle, but closer inspection reveals that it was probably a multi stone recumbent circle originally. Only two stones stand at the site today and both of these are leaning at angles. It is probable that the two tall stones are the original portal stones, if so, they were set tangentially. As well as the standing stones, at least seven sizable stones are prostrate, three singly, and the rest in a heap southwest of the portal candidates.
