The axial stone at Derreennataggart is aligned almost due west from the circle centre, the stone is low at 1.3m, and was the widest in the circle at 2.2m. The remaining stones show good height grading up to the portals, which were set tangentially and were quite tall (the intact northern portal stone is about 2.3m high). Of an estimated fifteen original stones, we counted eight erect (nine if you count the tiny stump of the southern portal). There are many stones lying on the surface or partially buried around the circle, we counted three of these as being likely fallen circle stones.
