Easter Aquorthies is a classic example of a recumbent stone circle and is in very good condition.  There are nine circle stones, plus the recumbent and flankers, all are of granite. Curiously, the four eastern stones are of pink granite, and the remaining circle stones are grey. The 2.5m high flankers are grey granite and the 3.8m long recumbent is of red quartz-streaked granite, it is aligned on the southern moonset. The site slopes markedly to the east and is enclosed by a modern drystone wall. Originally embanked, and probably having an internal cairn, today the circle surface resembles a huge bowl with little sign of a central mound.
