A close-up of the "libation hole" worked in the sill of the inter-apse portal.

 The hole is 18cm in diameter and is viewed from the east side, it is bored completely through the thick sill stone.
 These holes are thought to have been used for the offering of liquid "libations" by pouring them in to soak away
 into the ground. The holes are frequently found in threshold stones such as the one above, or in paving slabs adjacent to
 entrances, such as the multi-holed stone near the NE entrance to Hagar Qim.
